Didem Yagci is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice has been based between Istanbul and New York for more than a decade. With an academic background in Chemistry from Bosphorus University and further studies in Contemporary Art and Design at the London College of Fashion (EU Scholarship, 2010), the artist moves between analytical precision and spiritual intuition through layered explorations of form. Yağcı engages with the tension and harmony between Western analytical approaches and Eastern philosophical sensibilities, evolving from textile-based felt portraits into geometric abstractions and sculptural works. Driven by an ongoing transformation of the self, Yağcı recently started to explore new compositions of fragmented, soft-edged, and organic forms on wood, cardboard, and canvas, engaging abstraction as a means of artistic expression and inner dialogue.
